FINAL MOVIE

Image

Directors Commentry

Scene Time Code Media Language Preferred Reading 1 00.29 Close up dolly shot from the front of character walking.   In the background ambient sound is playing. This signals to the viewer that nothing significant is happening at the moment.   I want the audience to get emotionally involved with the character right from the start and to pay attention to detail. This establishes that this is the main character. 2 1.16-1.21 Medium shot of character sitting on swing, then cutting to a close up shot of the character getting the phone out of his pocket, and an extreme close up shot of his phone displaying the text messages. I sequenced these shots together as it gives the viewer different perspectives important detail and focusses on what the viewer will naturally be looking at. A phone text message sound effect plays. This notifies to the audience that the character has just received...

Uploading to YouTube

Image
This is evidence of me uploading my final movie onto youtube so it can be watched and accessed by anyone

Production Schedule

Image
this is evidence of a production schedule. Setting target dates for everything to be completed is a helpful way of staying on track and making sure i don't fall behind in my production. Falling behind will mean my movie gets brought out later.

Sorting files

Image
This is evidence of my sorting all my raw footage and uploading it to Final Cut. Its important that all my footage is organised and in the right folders so it is not lost so i don't have to film again.

Organising film dates with actors

Image
This is evidence of organising filming dates with my actors. Its important that we agree on a good date to film so i can chack for weather and when i can book equipment out.

Weather check

Image
This is evidence of weather check. I checked the weather before i started filming because i wanted a sort of cloudy gloomy effect. if i had filmed on a day where it was sunny, it might make the audience feel happy which isn't the effect i want and if i had filmed on a day where its raining the equipment can get damaged.

Filming evidence

Image
Evidence of me directing, recording sound and filming. In these pictures  i was filming two different shots, one from the side, and a dolly from behind.

Log sheet

Image
This is evidence of me using log sheets for my footage. Log sheets are important to establish what footage is useful and what isnt. It also establishes  exactly what is happening in each shot and how much footage i have collected.

Editing sound

This is evidence of me editing sound. In the first clip i am importing sound from off the internet and i am editing in onto my film. In the second video i am adjusting the volume of the sound so its exremely loud so it makes the audience jump adding to the sense of horror.

Looking for royalty free sound

Image
This is evidence of me looking for royalty free sound. Its important i use copy right free music so my movie doesn't get claimed and i don't lose all the rights to my movie. Even the smallest bit of sound can be claimed and that would mean i would have lost my entire production.

IMovie

Image
This is evidence of me using another software, iMovie. It was good for cutting and sequencing my clips unlike final cut express however it was very useful for making production company logos to export and import onto final cut express. Using two editing softwares can be tricky however it is very useful.

SFX

Image
special effects add extra impact to the audience that give them a certain feeling, special effects take a lot of time and effort but if it gives the audience the intended feeling you wanted to then its worth it. For example, the titling i used as an earth quake shake on it. this shaking motion symbolises trembling which will make the audience scared and hopefully make them tremble.

Editing Speed

Image
This is evidence of me editing speed. Slow motion/fast motion effects have different impacts on the audience. slow motion drags things out and makes things much more dramatic while fast motion picks things up and can give the viewer an over whelming feeling. you will use fast motion when the audience doesn't need to pay attention to detail or whats going on around them where fast motion is for more paying attention to detail.

Managing Issues

Image
To achieve this particular shot i climbed up onto a child climbing frame with the equipment so i could have a high angle shot of the character. As i am only 5'3" and i did not have access to equipment that i needed i had to think creatively.  This is evidence of me managing issues and proves i am willing to do anything to achieve the shot i want to have the best effect on the audience in the final outcome.

Lighting

Image
In this particular shot, the light was coming from behind the subject making the forefront dark and difficult to see. I saw this as an issue and we overcame this by shining an iPhone torch on the character so the front of him was visible. This is evidence of me using lighting and managing issues effectively.

Titling

this is evidence of me titling. Titling is a very little yet important process of editing. Titling gives key and extra information about the production of the movie to the audience or information about the plot. if there was no titling, it could leave viewers confused. SO its important that titling goes with the genre of the film you are using. In this video, you can see i used a horror font and used the colour red to conform to the conventions of the horror genre.

Importing Footage

This is evidence of me importing footage onto final cut express.

Continuity Editing

Image
This is evidence of me continuity editing. Keeping continuity in a movie is important as it keeps the flow. Its important i sequence all the different clips together in the right place to ensure i have the best outcome for my audience.

Colour Correction

Image
This is evidence of me correcting colour. I did two separate bits of filming and during the second bit its got darker quicker than expected.  This resulted in the last first half of my filming being dark, to then cutting to it being daylight. Rather than wasting time and filming again, i used colour correction tool to make the rest of the scene appear dark.  This went well with the continuity and the darkness added to the horror aesthetic and made it appear more sinister.

Location Recce

Image
Location Permission needed from Format of request Permission granted Kendall wood Local Council Social Media DM Yes Manor Road Local Council Social Media DM Yes Throapham Park Local Council Social Media DM Yes Skinners Wood Local Council Social Media DM Yes This is evidence of me doing research into my locations that i have filmed in. It states whether i need filming permission, the format of the request and whether or not its been granted. Location recces are important as it shows all the different locations i will be filming in and whether or not i've got filming permission. If i didnt have filming permission i wouldn't be able to film.

Call sheet

Image
This is evidence of my call sheet. in this call sheet it states what locations i will be filming in, what scene that location is for and the set and description. It also states what actors will be involved in this particular day of filming and details about them. Call sheets are important for keeping everything organised. without one, i could encounter some problems.
